Why I love this Game
I fell in love with the game of golf in 1997 at the age of 16. I started playing because of a dare, and I continued playing because of the challege, because of it's emphesis on mental stability, and because of it's demand for intergrity. Golf is an elite sport. It taught me to be a gentleman, It taught me that I couldn't blame anyone for my shortcomings but me. It taught me that when I am the most upset, that those are the times I need to concentrate and focus the most. Golf doesn't care if you're 6'6 or 4'6, it doesn't care if you hit the ball 320 yards as I do or if you hit it 260 yards, at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is your score. It has taught me to be result oriented and most of all, it's taught me a lot about myself. I am a better person because I play the game!
My Life's Philosophy
Based on my late start in the game, my struggle for financial support, and my lack of formal training one might think that what I have accomplished in the game of golf is near impossible.
When we are children, hopefully our parents tell us that we can acheive great things. They toss around ideas like us becoming doctors, lawyers, President, or great athletes. Somehow along the way we lose site of that. Life tells us that dreams are just dreams and we live in a world of reality so we settle for mediocrity. I believe that we create our own reality. Sure i've hit some bumps along the way but next week I will tee it up on the Hooters Tour and the week after that I will be attempting to qualify for the US Open. In the fall I will try my hand and PGA Tour Qualifying School for the first time. Reality tells me that my chances of making it to the PGA Tour are slim.
My heart and my dreams tell me that knowing this will make it even more special when I succeed!
My golden rule: "If you want it, don't ever give up until you get it. If someone has done it, they've proven it can be done!"
